Nairobi - A fight broke out among students at Nyeri National Polytechnic leaving some with injuries after disagreeing on how to share money that was given out by controversial Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria.
The MP landed in the institution’s ground in a chopper and addressed the students before leaving to an unknown place.
According to sources who prayed for anonymity, the MP gave out KES 100,000 to the students.
A scuffle ensued after he left while the students did not have good modalities to share out the donation.
Some properties in the school including window panes were destroyed by the unruly students forcing security guards to intervene and seek police reinforcement to restore order.
It also emerged that the MP had not notified the school administration about his landing, thus the management feeling aggrieved by his conduct.
The school heads are said to have tried to engage the legislator but he allegedly ignored them claiming he had done nothing wrong by addressing the students.
“In disregard to the school administration he boarded his chopper and flew away,” said another source who also sought anonymity.
“Anybody wishing to use the school ground to land has to notify the administration first and the way the MP conducted himself was wrong and in disrespect to the institution,” said the source.
The school is reportedly considering lodging an official complaint against the MP.
