Nairobi - Three youths have been arraigned in court in Isiolo County charged with attempts to join Somalia based terror group Alshabaab.
Rayan Busu John, 21, and two others aged 17 years were arrested by Anti-Terror Police Unit (ATPU) at the Dagahaley refugee camp in Garissa County on their way to Somalia.
The court heard that on August 20, this year at the Dagahaley refugee camp in Dagahaley Town they attempted to attend terrorism training in Somalia to commit terrorism.
They were alternatively charged with being members of the Al-Shabaab group.
However, they denied the charges while appearing before resident magistrate Joan Irura and applied to be released on bond terms.
Through lawyer Kiogora Mugambi, the trio argued that they were students and lived in Isiolo town, promising not to jump bail.
The court released them on a KES.500,000 bond each with two sureties of a similar amount or they deposit cash bail of KES.300,000.
The case was slated to be mentioned on October 4, this year to set a hearing date.
