Nairobi - A 17-year-old secondary school student from Othaya, Nyeri, who had lost his eyesight after consuming ethanol from his school’s laboratory, has recovered his sight.
The student from Kenyatta Mahiga High School is said to have taken the chemical after a chemistry session.
He was taken to hospital where he was being treated amid fears that he would be permanently blind.
Othaya District Hospital’s Doctor Yvonne Njeri said the boy had taken long before getting to the hospital, thus worsening his condition.
Area Director of Education, James Kaberia, confirmed the new development saying the boy is out of danger and has regained his sight but is yet to be discharged from the health facility.
