Nairobi - A university student leader attempted suicide after he received suspension after he allegedly incited comrades to violence.
University of Eldoret Students Governing Council (SGC) ex President Edgar Kagonya Kisanya attempted to kill self on Tuesday according to sources within the varsity.
Kisanya left what was termed as a suicide note.
“For change to occur, then a price must be paid….it is for this reason that I commit suicide, so that you realise the fruits of justice. Through my death, all the student leaders that were denied their right of education must now be allowed to realise their ambitions and dreams. Through my death let Otunga and her group know that money can buy media but not the truth.”
Edgar was reportedly set to face the University Senate over the ‘incitement’
He was rushed to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH).
MTRH CEO Dr. Wilson Aruasa confirmed the incident.
“The patient whom we were told is a student at UoE was booked and was found to have injected himself with a poisonous drug. It is a parasuicide case ignited by his suspension from the University one month ago,” said Dr. Aruasa.
