Student in court over botched kidnap

Nairobi - A Form four student has been arraigned in court charged with kidnapping a 3-year-old boy.
The accused, a student at Kisima Mixed Day Secondary School admitted to the charge when he appeared before Resident Magistrate Charles Ndegwa.
According to the charge sheet, the accused together with others not before court kidnapped the minor at Chang’aa estate in Maralal town, Samburu County on August 24, this year at around 3pm.
It further indicated that the accused called the boy’s mother demanding money for his upkeep before they could deliver KES.170, 000 ransom.
The boy was rescued by police officers in Nanyuki town on August 29, this year.
However, the prosecution led by Kigo Njoroge asked the court to remand the accused at Maralal police station until Thursday September 1, this year to enable them get the facts of the case.
