Stop victimizing headteachers for arson activities by students

Nairobi - Uasin Gishu county teachers Unions leaders has urged the government to stop victimizing head teachers where a fire incident occurs.

Led By KUPPET Sectretary general Elijah Maiyo, Eldoret West KNUT secretary general Jacob Arusei and Eldoret East KNUT secretary general Sammy Bor, they said it's not the mandate of Teachers to guard the school instead it's the police.

"Why are headteachers targeted in this perennial fire incidences that are being witnessed in our schools, we are innocent we know nothing just like every Kenyan"he said.

Speaking on Thursday after going to release the Principal of Leseru Boys Secondary shadrack Ngetich who was arrested yesterday due arson activities in his school where dorm was bur, they said its time the National Government does thorough investigation on the cause frequent fires in schools, instead of blame games.

"We are calling upon president Uhuru Kenyatta to stop his silence and address this issue once and for all, why is he nun and yet over 140 schools have burnt"they said.

They said as Union leaders they want the Secondary schools to be closed with immediate effect to ease tension amongst students as dialogue goes on.

"If the National Government will fail to listen to our please we will martial our members and advice them not to go to work until the issue is settled once and for all "he said.

They added that they fully support Cabinet for Education policies and urged him to implement to the fullest yo avert cheating.
