Stop spoiling Jubilee's name, DP Ruto warns Rift Valley leaders

Nairobi - DP William Ruto has castigated Governor Jackson Mandago and other leaders for threatening to kick out the newly appointed Moi University vice Chancellor because of his tribe.
Ruto, who has been away in the United States attending the United Nations General Assembly is said to have told Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen to take care of the matter conclusively.
He is said to have been angered by the comments made by Mandago who stated that the appointment was made with Ruto out of the country to undermine him and the Kalenjin community.
But according to the DP, that is not the case.
" The DP was unhappy with the comments. A university is an institution for all people and not just one community so he was not happy to be dragged in that discussion," an aide to the DP told News24.
The DP is yet to make an official statement on the matter but is said to have told Murkomen to pass his message to the leaders who were asking that Laban Ayiro be kicked out of office.
" The Jubilee Party has just recently been formed and such comments are a kick in the teeth for the initiative that is to unite Kenyans," the aide added.
Ayiro was named to replace outgoing VC Richard Mibey.
The leaders are said to have been informed of the DP's feelings.
The DP is set to return to the country this week.
