Stop peddling lies, DPP tells Raila

Nairobi - Director of Public Prosecutions DPP Keriako Tobiko says he is hiding nothing from Kenyans as regards the prosecution of officials at the Devolution Ministry as well as National Youth Service NYS.
Tobiko denies that his office has used its power to shield some individuals, including Devolution CS Anne Waiguru from prosecution over the loss of KES 791 million from the NYS.
This follows a statement to that effect from CORD leader Raila Odinga.
"Allegations of compromise and other ulterior considerations by my office in the execution of my high public duty are completely baseless and unwarranted,” he said in a statement Wednesday.
Raila had claimed that Tobiko was in cahoots with President Uhuru Kenyatta in trying to ensure that Waiguru is spared from prosecution.
" There is now an emerging trend on the part of the political elite to politicise what is an otherwise legal process," he further complained.
" Our fidelity is to the constitution and the law. Politicians should not drag our legal process into parochial political theatrics that only serve to defeat justice,” he added.
Raila says that Waiguru is being protected by the President and is intimidating Judiciary officials to stop any sort of prosecution against her taking place.
