Stop hiding behind Constitution and fire IEBC, MP tells Uhuru

Nairobi - A URP MP has come out to accuse President Uhuru Kenyatta of failing to act over the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) stalemate.
Kuresoi South MP Zakayo Cheruiyot on Monday asked President Kenyatta to send IEBC commissioners packing and stop blaming the constitution.
“What is there for the Government in the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission? Commissioners of other commissions were sent home. The President must therefore act over IEBC unless the Government has a sinister motive,” he said.
President Kenyatta has dismissed the opposition’s street protests against IEBC.
“I do not have powers to send the officials home like that era of President Moi because times have changed,” Kenyatta said during a trip in Mandera.
