Spouses burnt to death in Njoro in a suspected arson attack

Nakuru - A man and his spouse were Wednesday night burnt to death at Kariobangi village in Njoro township Nakuru county.
The duo identified as William and Rael rudia died at 11.00PM in what is suspected to be an arson attack.
According to Jedidah mwangi a neighbor,their house had been locked from outside by the time the fire started.
“The two had just retired to bed but could not get out of the house since fierce flames had already engulfed their wooden semi permanent house.We were awoken by screams but on rushing to the scene, we found the house already consumed by fire.
Nothing was salvaged during the incident. Police officers from Njoro police station arrived at the scene and took the remains of the deceased to mortuary as investigations continue.
It will be noted that this is the second fire incident to occur in Njoro in a span of two weeks without the response of the Nakuru county government fire brigade .
A source privy to county fire fighting operations revealed that as per week, county fire fighting vehicles including ones that were recently acquired had broken down although the county executive committee member in charge of infrastructure Eng. Joel Maina Kairo denied knowledge of the same.
Last week six rental houses belonging to a one of the staff in the county fire fighting department were razed down near Egerton university njoro.
