Sotokoto Safari half marathon is back after a two year break

Nairobi - This year’s edition of the Sotokoto Safari half marathon will go down without the 10 km category.
Confirming this Thursday at a press conference, the founder Douglas Wakiihuri said it was due to limited resources and called for more sponsors to come on board.
The marathon which has had a two year break will take place on July 3, 2016 at Uhuru Gardens Nairobi with more than 1000 athletes expected to take part.
Apart from the traditional 21km elite race, the other categories are: 21 km wheelchair, 21 km masters, 21 km corporate team challenge, 21 km Special Olympics and 5 km kids.
Wakiihuri said the registration is ongoing and urged athletes to seize the opportunity as the marathon will be a good ground to practice for the upcoming Rio 2016 Olympics.
