Sonko rubbishes more talk of Machakos move

Nairobi - Mike Mbuvi Sonko says that talk of him moving base to Machakos is rubbish and unfair to his political career.
The Nairobi Senator says that he is firmly in the race for the Nairobi Governor's seat and that he has no plans of being a part of the Machakos race.
Over the weekend, Sonko was in Machakos for the funeral of husband to former Assistant Minister Wavinya Ndeti and was quizzed by locals about joining the Machakos race.
But Sonko insists that he is happy in Nairobi.
" I will be in the ballot for the Nairobi race. That I can assure you," he told News24.
He stated that despite Machakos being his home, he had no plans politically.
" I will fight for the growth of Machakos but on a political stand note I am in Nairobi to stay," he added.
Sonko has been mooted as a replacement for Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua within the CORD ranks.
Mutua has formed his own party and will contest the seat using it, leaving a role for a senior politician to take over the CORD ticket for the 2017 polls.
