Nairobi - Nairobi Senator Mike Mbuvi Sonko says he will offer youth KES 1 billion in interest free loans when he takes over as Governor.
The Senator claims that he will offer the loans to youth to help them set up businesses and stop depending on jobs to make a living.
" I will offer youth KES 1 billion in loans to help youth set up businesses," he said Wednesday.
He says that when he takes over as Governor, which is his plan for the 2017 polls, he will offer the grant to youth and entities owned by youth to help improve lives and alleviate poverty.
" Lack of capital is a problem but should not be an excuse. There are so many good start-ups here in Nairobi but can't expand due to lack of enough capital," he added.
Sonko is eyeing current Governor Evans Kidero's seat come 2017. He is among a group of Jubilee Coalition politicians seeking Kidero's slot.
Also looking to earn nomination is former Devolution CS Anne Waiguru and nominated MP Johnstone Sakaja.
