Nairobi - Senator Mike Mbuvi Sonko is looking for public sympathy by lying to Kenyans, A Jubilee MP says.
Dagoretti MP Dennis Waweru says that Sonko is looking for public sympathy from Kenyans so as to gain an advantage in the race for the Nairobi Governor's seat come the 2017 elections.
He was referring to a post by the Senator on his social media pages claiming he had been drugged while on a tour in Kibera and that he went home the following morning and was forced to explain to his wife that he had been drugged.
While poking holes in Sonko's story, the MP stated that there was need to lie to Kenyans but instead provide solutions to their problems.
" There is no need to lie to Kenyans to get sympathy. We are looking for solutions to the problems that are there and not stories over our escapades," he said without referring directly to the Senator.
Sonko in his post stated (translated from Swahili)
" I went on a campaign trail yesterday at Kibera without my bodyguards and
got drugged. I arrived at home in the morning and my wife almost caused
a scuffle but I took her for an outing, just the two of us, and said
sorry," he stated.
The two leaders are going head to head for the Jubilee nomination which will see the winner take on current Governor Evans Kidero come the polls next year.
