Nairobi - Nairobi Senator Mike Mbuvi Sonko is in trouble with the Kenya Defence Forces.
KDF has said they are investigating Sonko over a criminal offence he committed.
KDF spokesperson, Bogita Ongeri said Sonko allegedly photoshopped President Uhuru Kenyatta while in military attire, which is criminal.
“It is wrong to do that, especially for a person of his calibre and standing in a honourable house. In fact it’s a criminal offence,” Ongeri said.
According to KDF, the act was like impersonating the Commander-in-Chief.
“That is akin to impersonation by the Senator, and we are going to start investigations that could lead to legal action against him,” Ongeri added.
The photoshop was posted on the Senator’s Facebook profile on September 26 captioned: “I take this opportunity to welcome His Majesty King Abdullah II bin Al Hussein of the Kingdom of Jordan. Kenyans are the country’s true wealth and they are both the means and the object of its development process.”
This was after President Uhuru Kenyatta was pictured at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) in military gear welcoming King Abdullah II of Jordan.
