"My tears are flowing for a friend, a great man. During this sorrowful time, I would like to extend my heartfelt condolences to the Media Fraternity and friends of Ahmed Darwesh. Ahmed was more than a friend to me, a friend who defined brotherhood. He was so clean at heart and rose through his career through sheer will and hardwork. A person whose advice guided my own political career," he said.

" The best Interview I did with him was in 2013 when I was contesting for the Nairobi Senatorial seat. Darwesh with his Swahili will be terribly missed. He was loved by all of us and he will be cherished in our memories forever.Rest in Peace Darwesh," he added.

Darwesh is set to be buried in Mombasa Tuesday according to Islamic rights.
