Somali national arrested over illegal migration

Nairobi - Police have arrested a Somali national at Sericho in Garbatulla, Isiolo County, for being in the country illegally.
Garbatulla Deputy County Commissioner (DCC) Kipchumba Rutto said police pouncedon the man who claimed that he was travelling to South Africa.
He said the man no proper travel documents allowing him to be in Kenya.
Rutto said the suspect, in his mid-20s, is being held at Garbatulla police station as investigation to the incident commenced.
He said the man was found in possession of cell phone lines registered under Ethiopian codes and Saudi Riyal.
“We are in Easter Holiday and visitors to the country must have the right documents it is illegal to enter foreign land without permits. Illegal aliens can be a security threat,” said the administrator.
He added that the man entered Kenya through Wajir County and had no documentation that allowed him to be in Kenya.
He added that there was influx of herders from the neighbouring counties and that they would be monitored so that they do not cause conflicts over grazing land.
He also directed communities to form grazing committees to monitor herders’ movement and ensure they shared the pastures and water without conflicts.
