08 February 2016, 20:59 Victor Tinto

Nairobi - A Kenya Defence Forces soldier who died in Somalia knew he was in danger of dying in the harsh conditions in Somalia.

Daniel Chirchir die din the Al Adde attack on a KDF camp in Somalia January 15.

He was laid to rest at his Turbo home over the weekend.

His mother Recho Rono told News24 that the hard-working and selfless soldier knew that he would face a number of dangers in his line of duty and thus was ready for anything.

" He was a fine man. A dedicated soldier. He knew the consequences and always said he was ready to fight no matter what the circumstances were," she said.

" He died doing what he loved," she added.

Chirchir was among a group of soldiers in a camp of what is believed to be 240 soldiers who were attacked by Al Shabaab militants in Al Adde.

So far, at-least 30 have been confirmed to have died in the attack.
