Isiolo - A group of six herders from Garbatulla area in Isiolo County have surrendered their illegal guns to police for registration purposes.
Garbatula OCPD, Kioko Nyamai said the move will prompt other pastoralists to register their firearms and dispel the fear of being disarmed.
About 29 illegal firearms have been registered in Isiolo since the exercise kicked off early this year, with only Merti Sub-County failing to register even a single rifle.
In Garbatula, 10 illegal guns have been registered while Isiolo Central sub-County has registered 19 firearms.

The registered gun holders are expected to join the Kenya Police Reservists (KPR) unit in their areas.
The ongoing registration of illegal firearms was launched by Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery as a way of countering escalating cases of insecurity.
The exercise came following rising cases of cattle rustling and banditry in the Northern parts of Kenya.
