Serial killer gunned down in his Aberdare forest hideout

Nyeri - A special unit of Administration Police officers gunned down a man believed to be behind a series of murders, rape and violent robbery incidents in Othaya, Nyeri County.
The man, identified as Samuel Kiboi was killed in his hideout inside Aberdare forest.
Police have been camping inside the forest looking for the suspect who was described as the most wanted in Central Kenya due to the crimes he allegedly committed including killing more than six people.
His last crime was reportedly an arson attack and murder of a bodaboda operator in Othaya.

Residents said the suspect, whom they nicknamed Simba, was also kidnapping women and forcing them to cook for him inside the thick forest before raping them.
Due to the ongoing heavy rains in the region, police used sniffer dogs and followed a trail of his footprints until they caught up with him.
He was shot twice while escaping in the woods after defying police orders to stop.
Othaya police boss, Joseph Mwika said the suspect allegedly killed a couple and also a taxi operator who caught him committing the murder.
Police recovered a mobile phone, food, clothes, a sleeping bag, tent and panga among other items in his hideout.
They later carried the body from the forest amid cheers from residents who also demanded to view it before it was taken to Mukurweini District hospital.
