Senator now claims he is not interested in governorship

Nyeri - Nyeri Senator, Mutahi Kagwe has denied claims that he is interested in the Nyeri gubernatorial seat.
Kagwe, through a press statement, dismissed speculations that he was keen to dislodge Governor Nderitu Gachagua in the next general election.
He clarified that he will be defending his seat to protect devolution.

“At no time have I ever expressed interest in the Governor's position. I have never declared my interests in vying for the Nyeri County gubernatorial seat,” said the former Minister for Information.
“I’m of the view that we need to strengthen the Senate since it can help defend devolution. Some of us must continue to be in the Senate since it can help to defend Devolution,” he added.
