Sacked drunk chief pleads with President to give him back his job

23 May 2016, 18:26

Nairobi - An assistant chief who was fired  for attending a presidential function while drunk is now pleading with President Kenyatta to give him back his job.

Joseph Rotich who was the Mawingu sub location administrator says that he has transformed and ready to go back to his work.

Speaking on Sunday in Mawingu village Rotich said he has learned a bitter lesson after undergoing a 52 day rehabilitation session at the Mathari hospital.

"I am now an enemy of cigarettes and alcohol and I want the president to give me back my job because I am ready to serve Kenyans and I will be at the forefront of fighting illicit brews in my area,” he said.

Rotich was captured on a video while drunk at a function that was being presided over by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

The video went viral on social media platforms something that led to him being sacked by Interior PS Karanja Kibichio.
