Laikipia - A chief and his assistant who were sacked in a public Baraza last week at Tigithi Location in Laikipia County by Interior Principal Secretary Karanja Kibicho have been reinstated to their positions.
Wilson Thuo and his assistant Patrick Mathenge had been sacked for what the PS termed as taking alcohol while in uniform and allowing bars in their location to operate outside stipulated hours.
The two however appealed to Laikipia County Commissioner Apollo Okello that they would stop their behavior and work with the government in the war against illicit brews and other areas to improve security in the region.
Okello noted that he had read all the mistakes the two had been accused since 1997 and they had agreed to be good administrators.
He said that he had communicated the same to the PS and he had agreed to give them a second chance in the service.
The county commissioner however said the government will not hesitate to send home any administrator going against the set code of conduct.
He said the war against illicit brews will not stop and all the chiefs and their assistants have the responsibility to make sure that their areas are free from the vice.
