SA President Jacob Zuma expected in the country Monday

10 October 2016, 08:49 Ben Wangui

Nairobi - President Jacob Zuma of South Africa is expected in the country today for a 3-day state visit.

Top on the agenda will be trade, immigration and security.

President Uhuru Kenyatta plans to seek Zuma’s intervention in reducing Visa servie fees from KES 7 000 to KES 4 900.

He will also be lobbying for the reopening of the SA market to avocados from Kenya as well as waiver of levies and restrictions on products such as soda ash and processed meat from Kenya.

The two Presidents are also expected to discuss Amb Amina Mohamed’s candidature for the post of chairperson of the African Union Commission, which is currently held by Jacob Zuma’s ex-wife Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma.

"President Kenyatta reached out to ... President Zuma before and after the candidature of CS Mohammed was made public ... and will return to that subject in the meeting on Tuesday," said Statehouse Spokesperson, Manoah Esipisu at a press briefing Sunday.
