Rutto to defect from URP after Jubilee merger

Nairobi - Bomet Governor Isaac Rutto has appealed to United Republican Party (URP) top brass to suspend the merger with The National Alliance (TNA) until proper consultations are done.
He said party supporters should be given a chance to understand reasons for the merger failure to which supporters from the South Rift region would defect to other political parties or form a new outfit of their own.
Rutto who spoke at Bomet Green Stadium at the launch of the newly formed Wards Development Committees, wondered why URP top leadership had not seen the need for consultation with the grassroot supporters.
He pointed out that electorates from the region are left with no option but join other political parties or form a new one if URP leadership fails to heed to the force of reason.
" The Jubilee administration has no option but to devolve at least 45 percent of its national audited revenue collection of the previous year to the County Governments," he stated.
He said no meaningful development will be achieved if the national government was not ready to devolve funds for the implementation of development projects at the grass root level.
