Nairobi - DP William Ruto caused my arrest, a CORD leader says.
Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama says that the arrest of 8 MPs for hate speech was instigated by DP Ruto and Interior CS Joseph Nkaissery.
The fact that they were for long denied bail also showed that Ruto had a hand in their detention, having given express orders that none of the leaders be released.
" We all know that DP Ruto was involved in our arrests and long detention. He pulled the strings together with Nkaissery," he claimed.
According to Muthama, Ruto is intimidated by the CORD Coalition and wants to frustrate them as much as possible.
" The DP is the reason behind our woes but we will ensure he does not return to office come the 2017 elections," he added.
He was speaking in Nairobi Monday.
Muthama and 7 other MPs were detained by Police for a week in custody over alleged hate speech.
