Nairobi - KANU have cancelled a rally in Kericho after the arrival of DP William Ruto.
The party was set to hold a rally at Kericho's Moi Gardens Saturday but with Ruto and the Jubilee leadership in town to attend a rally in thanksgiving for the Kericho by election win, those plans have been shelved.
" The rally has been postponed to a later date," KANU Secretary General Nick Salat told News24 on phone without stating why.
On the other hand, Ruto is scheduled to lead other Jubilee leaders in a thanksgiving ceremony at Kericho Teachers College.
It follows the Tuesday swearing-in of new Kericho Senator Aaron Cheruiyot.
Cheruiyot won 109,358 votes against KANU's Paul Sang’s 56,241 votes.
National Assembly Deputy Speaker Joyce Laboso, National Assembly
Majority Leader Aden Duale, Senate Majority Leader Kithure Kindiki and
his deputy Kipchumba Murkomen will accompany Ruto in the celebrations.
It is expected that Ruto will directly address Jubilee leaders who have chosen to support the opposition in recent times during the rally.
