Nairobi - Nairobi residents should brace themselves for a week-long traffic disruption from Sunday as the city hosts an International conference.
More than four roads within the Central Business District (CBD) are set to be closed for motorists during the 14th session of the United Nations conference on Trade (UNCTAD).
In a statement to media houses, Nairobi Police Commander Japheth Koome said that the roads to be closed include Parliament, Taifa, Harambee, City Hall, Standard, Mama Ngina and Wabera Street.
“The roads will only be used by delegates who have stickers. Other motorists will be directed by officers on the ground and we urge for co-operation,” read a statement signed by Koome
The event is expected to bring together Heads of State and Government, ministers and other prominent players from the business world, civil society and academia to tackle global trade and economic issues.
The week-long conference will feature ministerial debates, high-level round tables, a World Investment forum and a Civil Society forum.
The international event will be held from Sunday to Friday at the Kenyatta International Conference Centre (KICC) in Nairobi.
