Nairobi - There are fears of rigging in the upcoming Malindi by election after CID officers ransacked a hotel where IEBC officers were staying.
The detectives from the CID allegedly forcefully entered the Rafiki Hotel in Malindi where the officers were staying and ransacked their property.
The claimed that there were plans of electoral malpractices ahead of the Monday election.
IEBC chief Isack Hassan condemned the incident.
" This is unacceptable. We have made an official complaint over the matter. This is serious," he told News24 on pone from Mombasa.
On the other hand, CORD leaders in Mombasa stated that the move was a ploy by the Jubilee Coalition to intimidate the IEBC.
" This looks like a deliberate ploy to affect the outcome of the polls which we will not allow," Mombasa Senator Hassan Omar stated.
The polls will pit the ruling Jubilee Coalition against CORD to replace Dan Kazungu who has taken up a position in the mining ministry.
