Nairobi - Respect the President, Nairobi Senator Mike Mbuvi Sonko has told opposition MPs.
Sonko says that the continued moves by opposition MPs and leaders to speak out against the President was an affront to the office of the President.
" The President must be respected at all times," he said.
Opposition MPs continually blew whistles before President Uhuru Kenyatta
began his annual State of the Nation address on Thursday.
They were eventually kicked out of the house.
Sonko says that it is time the Presidency is respected even if it means enforcing the rules.
" We are bound by the Constitution. That says that we must at all times respect the Presidency and that applies to all of us even if we have differing opinions," he added.
In Mombasa earlier in the year, Sonko stood up to Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho for speaking ill against the President in Mombasa.
