Residents demand for equipment at Cheptais sub-county hospital

Bungoma - Residents of Cheptais Sub County in Mt Elgon Constituency have called on the government to purchase and install a theatre and X-ray machine for the local sub County hospital to help reduce the expenses.
Led by a Mt. Elgon parliamentary aspirant Peter Sirai, they said that it has proved expensive for them to travel far seeking for such services yet they have a medical facility that can be fitted with such services.
“We are having medicine in this hospital but we lack a theatre and an x-ray machine which are very important in case of an outbreak of deadly diseases,” said Sirai
Speaking during the burial ceremony of the late police constable Wycliffe Boiyo at Sirikana Village in Cheptais town, Sirai said that currently patients strain a lot in case of emergencies which could be solved at a local medical facility than rushing patients them to well established hospitals like Bungoma County Referral Hospital and Mbale hospital in Uganda.
Sirai said that most of the residents of Mt. Elgon Prefer to get medical assistance in Uganda which nearer and Cheaper.
He cautioned local leaders against politicizing the health issues and in particular the use of ambulance at Cheptais Health Centre because some leaders complained of being over charged for services.
He also said that Kapsokwony sub-county hospital is also ill equipped thus lacking some essential services like theater and CT scan.
