Nakuru - Angry residents of Kinungi trading centre in Mau summit division on Monday barricaded the Nakuru-Kericho highway with stones, paralyzing transportation following the death of a 10-year-old boy who was killed by a speeding Nissan matatu.
The irate mob abandoned their normal routine and descended on the highway where they spent the better part of the evening in protest.
They said more than six people have been killed by speeding vehicles and scores injured since the start of the year.
The residents want the government to erect bumps and road signs at Kinungi trading centre as a way of reducing road accidents.

Police arrived later to disperse the mob and cleared the highway as normalcy returned.
Rift Valley traffic commandant, Mary Omari who confirmed the incident called for sobriety among the drivers adding that most of the accidents witnessed are due to careless driving.
"We can reduce these accidents if only we stick to the traffic rules on our roads as we do not want to lose more innocent lives," she said.
Omari further said that the driver will be arraigned in court to face charges of causing loss of life through careless driving.
