Nairobi - A renowned Nation Media Group NMG journalist has been suspended for criticizing President Uhuru Kenyatta's leadership skills.
Dennis Galava, the Managing Editor Special Projects has been sent home for writing a critical letter to the President in an editorial feature Saturday 2 January 2015.
NMG Editorial Director Tom Mshindi in a communique said Galava had written the critical piece without full consultation.
“We have asked Dennis Galava, the Managing Editor for Special Projects, to take some time off to allow us to review the circumstances of the writing and filing the editorial for Saturday Nation, January 2, 2016,” read the memo to staff members seen by News24.
“The lack of consultation and review of the editorial on the material day – where one writer takes a strong position on such an important issue single-handedly without broad consultations – is a significant departure from established procedure,” Mshindi added.
Galava's article called out Uhuru and his administration for letting down Kenyans as well as the economy on several fronts.
