Raila snubs Mama Lucy burial

Nyeri - Kenya’s opposition leader Raila Odinga snubbed burial ceremony of former First Lady Mama Lucy Kibaki in Othaya, Nyeri County.
There was a seat reserved for him at the VIP section of the main dais, an indication that he was expected to mourn with former President Mwai Kibaki’s family.
The seat remained vacant for the entire mass service that was attended by various leaders.

Also absent was former President Daniel Arap Moi whom word had gone round that he would attend.
None of the three CORD principals attended the event considering that they served in the Cabinet during former President Mwai Kibaki’s regime.
However, Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Deputy party leader Wycliffe Oparanya who is also Kakamega governor was in attendance.
Other governors present were Alfred Mutua (Machakos), Waithaka Mwangi (Nyandarua), Joshua Irungu (Laikipia) and Nyeri Deputy Governor Samuel Wamathai.
Politician Peter Kenneth and United Nations Conference on Trade and Development Secretary-General Dr Mukhisa Kituyi were also among dignitaries attending the ceremony.
