Nairobi - CORD leader Raila Odinga has mocked President Uhuru Kenyatta for missing the Devolution conference saying that despite his feelings it is here to stay.
The CORD leader told the gathering during the end of the conference that despite efforts to frustrate it, Kenyans chose it and will support it to the end.
He said that there had been efforts by the central government to frustrate devolution but it would not work out.
" Devolution is here to stay. Even if some do not agree or fail to show up, nothing will change," he said.
He stated that despite the failure of the Okoa Kenya referendum, the clamour to have more funds availed to devolution would not end.
" We must fight to have more funds availed to devolved governments. That is a must. It will be attained," he added.
On corruption in devolved units, the former Prime Minister stated that there was need for Governors to ensure that they are on top of their finances.
" We cannot live without checks in the way we operate. Corruption must be stopped," he added.
Devolved units are afforded less than 10% of total public revenue while they want to get as much as 40%.
