Nairobi - CORD leader Raila Odinga might quit the 2017 elections race, an ODM MP says.
According to chairman John Mbadi, Raila is not guaranteed to be CORD flag bearer come the 2017 polls and that as long as he proves his ability to lift the mantle, he will be considered.
He says that all of the three CORD principals are able to win the main gong to represent the Coalition versus President Uhuru Kenyatta.
" There is no agreement in CORD over the Presidency issue. Raila is not the flag bearer for CORD. For ODM yes. We will decide in due course using methods that will be agreeable come the time," he told News24.
Mbadi says that Raila is not guaranteed to be the CORD candidate as if the others prove that they are the best, they will be considered.
" It is not a given. If Raila shows he is the best, then he will be. If it is Kalonzo or Wetang'ula, we will go with the best," he added.
Mbadi agrees that to have any chance of defeating the Jubilee Coalition, it is imperative that they are unified within CORD.
