Raila lied to Kalonzo, Wetang'ula, MP says

04 October 2016, 17:50 Wilson Ochieng

Nairobi - Raila Odinga lied to Kalonzo Musyoka and Moses Wetang'ula over CORD unity campaigns, an MP has claimed.

The MP from eastern Kenya, who asked not to be named, said that Raila had personally told Kalonzo and Wetangula that he is going to end all ODM events in the country and carry on as a CORD campaign.

But that has been flouted on a number of occasions, with a major rally held in Kisumu over the past weekend by ODM faithful.

And thus the unhappiness by the two leaders.

" Kalonzo is not happy. He personally asked Raila to stop the ODM campaigns after the Mombasa festival but they have continued despite the agreement," the MP told News24.

But according to ODM's Suna east Mp Junet Mohammed, the current ODM rallies and activities are normal.

" These are normal activities. We are a party first and a coalition second. You cannot stop ODM from existing because it does and nothing can change," he stated.

ODM chairman John Mbadi claimed the opposition coalition was intact and would field one presidential candidate in the next elections to face Jubilee Party’s President Uhuru Kenyatta.

The apparent refusal by ODM to involve its CORD partners in its celebration of 10 years anniversary in Mombasa had not gone down well.

" We are together but we have to exist aside before we move together," he stated.

Mbadi said each party was strengthening its political base to give the coalition a formidable clout to win the 2017 elections.
