Nairobi - CORD leader Raila Odinga has given Police 24 hours to release MPs held over hate speech claims.
The CORD leader, speaking at the Muthaiga Police station Thursday stated that the MPs were being held and treated in an unlawful manner and stated that there would be unspecified action if they are not released on Friday.
He called on Police to either treat the MPs with respect or release them forcefully.
" We are unhappy with the manner in which Police have been holding the MPs," he said.
" They have been denied basic amenities and the right to see their relatives and or for us to visit them which is unlawful since even murder suspects can be visited," he added.
He stated that the MPs must be given bail on Friday or there would be consequences.
" I urge the government to ensure they are released on Friday or else we will be forced to take action," he added.
The MPs are set to have their application for bail heard on Friday, having earlier been denied the same by the High Court pending Police investigations.
