Raila bitter for missing Eurobond bribes, Jubilee MPs say

09 December 2015, 19:23 William Korir

Nairobi - CORD leader Raila Odinga is bitter for missing out on Eurobond kickbacks, Jubilee Coalition MPs have said.

The MPs led by Majority leader Aden Duale accused the CORD leader of instigating non existent propaganda over the Eurobond deal and stressed that he is just unhappy to have missed out on bribes.

Duale and the MPs also stated that they would go ahead with legal action against the CORD leader if the accusations of misappropriating the KES 250 billion Eurobond are found to be untrue.

They listed the projects they claim Raila was keen to collect bribes from as the Greenfield airport project, the National Youth Service Second and Third Phase Equipment Programme and the Urban Commuter Train Project.

“All these controversial projects which the CORD leader hoped would be financed with the Eurobond are massive kickback schemes presented as critical national projects," Duale accused.

“Raila is angry at the Jubilee administration for its refusal to use the Eurobond to finance these rackets which were designed by shady and corrupt networks both inside and outside the Grand Coalition administration,” Kindiki alleged.

Raila has always insisted that KES 100 billion of the 250 has been wasted by the government and called on Treasury chief Henry Rotich to resign as a result.

The government though, has stated that the money is in safe places and was used on legitimate projects.

The Ethics and Anti Corruption Commision EACC has in the meantime asked that the transactions be probed and called on Raila to record a statement over the matter.
