Protect families of slain KDF soldiers, Raila says

Nairobi - CORD leader Raila Odinga has called on the government to take care of the families of slain KDF soldiers.
Odinga says that the families of the deceased have been left with lots of burdens and should be compensated in the right manner and handed as much help as they possibly need.
The CORD leader believes that the families of the deceased deserve the care for bringing up persons who have given their lives to ensure Kenya is at peace.
" I trust that the government has a plan for the families of the soldiers who have died on duty. They have sacrificed their lives to ensure we enjoy certain liberties and we must not forget them," he said Wednesday in Kilgoris while attending the funeral of a KDF soldier who died in the Al Adde attack in Somalia.
The KDF is yet, according to families, to release funds for compensation.
The compensation is supposed to be two pronged. From the KDF as well as AMISOM, the force under which they were serving in Somalia.
More than 100 soldiers, it is believed died in the attack in Al Adde with many more injured and some missing.
Thus far, the KDF is yet to announce the exact figures as regards the dead and injured.
