Powerful cartels in government ruining Uhuru's legacy

29 February 2016, 12:59 Jackson Okata

Nakuru - A Jubilee member of Parliament has blamed powerful cartels within government for ruining President Uhuru Kenyatta's legacy by frustrating the war on graft and propagating the same vice.

Molo MP, Jacob Macharia said the powerful cartels have roots in all government departments and are the ones controlling the government.

Speaking Sunday in Nakuru town, Macharia said the cartels are frustrating every effort being made by the President to fight corruption.

"The cartels have taken over all government departments including State House, EACC, the DPP's office and even the courts and this is making the President appear as if he is unable to tackle the corruption menace," he added.

Macharia said the President needs to deal with the cartels first if he wants to win the war on corruption.

"The President must stop operating at the mercy of these cartels and fight them if he wants to safeguard his legacy or else they will frustrate him to the end and finally bring him down," he said.
