Nairobi - A popular local musician has been robbed at gunpoint by thugs who dropped their weapons while exiting his home.
The musician, who goes by the sage name Calvo Mistari was robbed at gunpoint Thursday night at Nairobi's Madaraka Estate.
He was in the company of his friends whilst hosting a party when they were accosted by the thugs. The thugs stole laptops, mobile phones, money as well as other personal effects.
None of them were unharmed.
" I thank God that we are fine. The thugs dropped their weapons while on their way out after I tried to fight them and as well I thank the Police for responding quickly," he stated.
The incident continues a trend of gun-crime that has pounded the city of Nairobi in the last 6 months.
Nairobi Police boss Japheth Koome says that Police have increased patrols to reduce incidences of crime.
" We are aware and are doing our best to increase patrols and kill off such cases," he said.
Just recently, an Eastleigh businessman was killed by gunmen in the city, with Police yet to find any leads as regards the matter.
