Police watch helplessly as Raila makes triumphant entry into Nairobi

Nairobi - Police watched helplessly as opposition Chief Raila Odinga and thousands of his supporters marched through Nairobi Central Business District in protest against the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
The CORD boss together with Senator Moses Wetang’ula led a peaceful demonstration against the electoral body, with the team passing through Kenyatta Avenue and headed to Anniversary Towers, the headquarters of IEBC.
Unlike the past peaceful demos held by the opposition leaders to press for the disbandment of IEBC, the protesters later proceeded to Uhuru Highway without any ugly scenes that have in the past been witnessed.
Contoversial Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria had last week threatened to unleash his supporters to counter the opposition one in the Monday demos, but Nairobi County police boss Japheth Koome warned him against doing so.
“We have enough capacity to guard Kenyans, which is part of mandate. We do not need anyone’s help,” said Koome during a press briefing on Sunday.
