Police told Raila to avoid Wetang'ula event

Nairobi - Police told CORD leader Raila Odinga that there would be chaos in Kakamega where the Presidential launch of fellow CORD principal Moses Wetang'ula was taking place.
The CORD leader was keen on attending the event held at Muliro Gardens in Kakamega Saturday but the fact that it was too tense stopped him in his tracks.
It is also understood that Police had placed a prior warning on the security presence at the grounds and potential of a flare up.
" Police informed the CORD leader that there could be chaos, a big likelyhood so he decided to avoid it," a police source told News24.
Raila's intelligence team had also raised a red flag over the event.
The launch was overshadowed by violent scenes between Wetang'ula's and supporters close to Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya.
The CORD leaders are yet to speak about the matter, as Wetang'ula himself admitted earlier.
