Nairobi - Police have quelled a mini University of Nairobi riot over lack of electricity.
The small riot took place in the University premises in Nairobi along Mamlaka Hostels and the Lower State House Road.
This took place following a power outage that begun in the late evening and early night.
Police from the nearby Central Police and Kenya Red Cross personnel however stopped the riot from spreading, also helped by the power outage being solved.
" There was a small riot but it was solved. There was an issue with power and it came back. There were no injuries and arrests," Central Police OCPD Paul Wanjama said.
The Kenya Red Cross further stated that there were no issues after the riot.
" Normalcy has returned at University of Nairobi. No injuries or structural damage has been reported," the KRC tweeted.
