Police gun down two armed thugs in Nakuru, rifle recovered

Nakuru - Police in Nakuru Tuesday morning killed two suspected thugs and recovered an Ak47 rifle with 27 rounds of ammunition in a foiled robbery at Njoro junction along the Nakuru-Eldoret highway.
Confirming the incident Nakuru County police Commander, Hassan Barua said the incident occurred at around 3:45am when two men who were riding on a motorcycle intercepted a man who was driving from Rongai towards Nakuru town.
Police on patrol arrived in the midst of the confrontation where they engaged the two in a shootout.
“Our officers were on patrol when they encountered the two suspects who had carjacked a motorist who was headed to Nakuru town but my officers engaged them and killed them on the spot,” said Barua.
Barua said such incidences are expected to be on the rise during the festive season and urged citizens to be on the look out and hire security whenever they are transporting money.
