Opposition party demands investigations into murder of businessman

07 May 2016, 17:04 Scoop Desk

Nairobi - The opposition party in Kenya has called for thorough investigations over the murder of businessman Jacob Juma.

Juma was killed on Thursday night in a gangland style by gangsters who were reportedly riding a motorbike.

The killers did not apparently steal anything from the deceased as his two mobile phones and Sh6200 were found at the scene.Opposition leaders led by Raila Odinga have called onto the government to unmask those behind the brutal murder.

Speaking on Friday after viewing the body of Juma at Lee Funeral Home, Raila said those behind the crime must be brought to book."We are condemning this incident and calling into thorough investigations.

Those who did this must be brought to book," Raila said.

Ford Kenya party leader Moses Wetangula said the government must tell the people of Western Kenya, where Juma hailed from, who murdered him.

"The government must tell Kenyans in general and the people of Mulembe who assassinated Jacob Juma," Wetangula said.

News of the death shocked Kenya as those in opposition alluded to extra-judicial killing as Juma was a controversial government critic.Police said the matter is under investigations.
