ODM MP tells opposition to respect President Kenyatta's Govt

22 December 2015, 13:07 Samuel Kisika

Nairobi - An ODM legislator has asked opposition leaders to respect President Uhuru Kenyatta and his entire administration as it implements its manifesto.

Sirisia MP, John Waluke told his colleagues in CORD to respect the government in power despite their plan to challenge it in the 2017 polls.

"If we want Wetang'ula or any CORD coalition principal to become the President, then it is important we respect the current President and his government," said Waluke.

"Tomorrow when we produce our own President, we shall not expect anybody to insult or underrate him," he added.

Waluke, who has been termed as a Jubilee 'mole' by some opposition MPs for defying CORD coalition's ideologies, vowed to work with Kenyatta's government for economic development of his constituents.

He pointed out that his constituency and Bungoma county, which has been in opposition for a long time, has lagged behind in development compared to other counties due to its failure to collaborate with previous governments.

"As an elected Member of Parliament for Sirisia, I'm free to support the government of the day for the sake of my constituents and that does not mean I have been bought by Jubilee coalition," said Waluke.

Waluke was recently elected the ODM party chairman for Bungoma County. His election was marred with chaos and criticism by his key opponent, an MCA who accused him of disloyalty to the party's ideologies following his decision to work with Jubilee administration.
