Nairobi - An ODM MP has gone against his party and
supported Eugene Wamalwa for the position of Nairobi Governor for the 2017
Mathare MP Stephen Kariuki says that he
supports Wamalwa for the seat as current Governor Evans Kidero has yet to show
city residents why they should consider him for the position.
He believes that a new face is necessary to
help the city achieve its targets and deliver vital services for residents.
“I think that it is imperative we get
solutions for the teething problems affecting the city and with that I trust
that Wamalwa is the right man for the job,” he said.
He added that Wamalwa had shown in the past
that he can deliver for Kenyans in vital public positions and that he has the
clout to rebuild the struggling city.
“The city needs changes to the way things
are done and so far sadly we have not seen them. A new face is necessary,” he
Wamalwa and Kidero are seen as the front
runners for the seat, along with Nairobi Senator Mike Mbuvi Sonko.
