ODM MP condemns Israel PM's 'chaotic' visit

07 July 2016, 09:38 William Korir

Nairobi - Kenya lost more than it will gain from the visit by Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu, an ODM Mp has said.

Gem MP Jakoyo Midiwo says that the traffic snarl-ups and delays seen by Netanyahu's visit to Kenya caused serious economic meltdown which cost the country billions of shillings.

He says that the value of the visit diminished thanks to the poor planning by the government which resulted in losses estimated to be in the billions of shillings.

" The planning was awful and the executive must take blame for it," he stated.

" How do you explain the lack of indication that there was a visitor and the poor coordination. The taxpayer lost billions of shillings in delays," he added.

He called on the government to offer Kenyans alternatives, including public holidays in the event this takes place in future.

" If the government is very keen on closing major roads then they had better tell Kenyans to take the day off," he added.

Netanyahu's three day visit caused endless traffic jams in Nairobi.

He left for Rwanda Wednesday.
